Your Dashboard
The Dashboard is your central hub for understanding compliance health across your entire business. Every time you sign in, you'll see an at-a-glance overview of where things stand - from your overall compliance score to individual employee progress, upcoming deadlines, and AI-powered recommendations. It's designed to help you stay on top of everything without digging through multiple pages.
Compliance Score
At the top of your Dashboard, a prominent score ring displays your overall compliance score as a percentage. This single number represents a weighted calculation across all of your compliance areas, giving you an immediate sense of how your business is performing.
The ring changes colour based on your score:
- Green - your compliance posture is strong and meets the required threshold
- Amber - your compliance needs attention, with some areas falling below expectations
- Red - urgent action is required to address compliance gaps
Alongside the ring, a status badge reinforces the message with a brief summary such as "Your compliance posture is strong" or "Your compliance posture requires urgent action." This makes it easy to understand at a glance whether you need to take immediate steps.
How the Score Is Calculated
Your overall score is a weighted average of four component scores: policies, training, risk assessments, and employee compliance. The weighting of each component is tailored to your business sector, reflecting the regulatory priorities most relevant to your industry.
To see exactly how your score breaks down, select the How is this calculated? button next to the score badge. This opens a detailed methodology panel showing:
- The percentage weight assigned to each compliance area for your sector
- How each component score is derived (for example, the policy score combines your adoption rate and employee acknowledgement rate)
- A clear breakdown of how each component contributes to the overall total
This transparency means you always know precisely what's driving your score and where to focus your efforts.
Compliance Certificate
Once your overall compliance score reaches the required threshold, you can download a compliance certificate directly from the Dashboard. The Certificate button appears next to your score - if your score hasn't yet reached the threshold, hovering over the button will show you exactly what percentage you need to achieve.
You can also export a PDF summary of your Dashboard at any time using the Export PDF button, which is useful for sharing compliance status with stakeholders or keeping records.
Note
Improving the lowest-scoring area in your compliance breakdown will typically have the biggest impact on your overall score. Focus your efforts there first for the quickest gains.
Compliance Breakdown
The compliance breakdown panel gives you a detailed view of progress across each compliance area. Each category displays a progress bar showing where you currently stand, colour-coded to match the same green, amber, and red thresholds as your overall score.
Policy Adoption
This tracks how many of the recommended policies for your sector your business has adopted. If your adoption rate is low, visit the Policy Library to browse and adopt relevant policies.
Employee Acknowledgement
This shows the proportion of your employees who have acknowledged all active policies assigned to them. Both adoption and acknowledgement rates feed into your overall policy score, so even with all policies adopted, the score will reflect whether employees have actually read and confirmed them.
Training Completion
Training completion shows the percentage of assigned training modules that employees have finished. Below the main progress bar, a colour-coded status breakdown displays how many modules are completed, in progress, or overdue - making it easy to spot where follow-up is needed.
Risk Assessment Acknowledgement
This tracks the proportion of employees who have acknowledged their assigned risk assessments. Like policy acknowledgement, this is a measure of real engagement rather than simply whether assessments exist.
Employee Compliance
The employee compliance bar shows how many of your active employees are fully compliant - meaning they've completed all assigned policies and training. This gives you a people-focused view of compliance that complements the category-level metrics above.
AI Insights
The AI Insights card provides a contextual analysis of your compliance data, generated automatically each week. It examines your business's actual compliance figures, identifies wins worth celebrating, highlights focus areas that need attention, and offers a prioritised recommendation for the week ahead.
Each focus area is tagged with a priority level - high, medium, or low - so you can quickly see what matters most. Select View detailed breakdown to expand the full analysis, including specific wins and recommendations.
If you'd like a fresh analysis outside the weekly cycle, use the refresh button to generate new insights on demand. Insights are generated every Monday at 8:00 AM, and the card always shows when the current analysis was last updated.
Note
AI Insights become available once your business has set up compliance requirements. The more data Shinepoint has to work with, the more targeted and useful the insights become.
Stat Cards
Four stat cards sit below the compliance score, providing a quick snapshot of key metrics:
- Policies Adopted - shows how many of your recommended policies you've adopted (for example, "12 of 15"), with a tooltip explaining how this contributes to your overall score
- Training Completion - the percentage of assigned training completed across all employees
- Risk Assessments - the number of currently active risk assessments for your business
- Employee Compliance - the percentage of employees who are fully compliant with all their assigned requirements
Each card includes a helpful tooltip with more detail about what the metric tracks and how it relates to your compliance score. These are designed to give you a fast read on business health without needing to navigate elsewhere.
Leave Overview
Once your business has configured leave management, a dedicated leave section appears on the Dashboard with three summary cards:
- Pending Requests - the number of leave requests awaiting your approval
- On Leave Today - how many employees are currently on leave
- Leave This Week - the total number of employees with leave scheduled during the current week
These figures help you plan resource availability and ensure no requests go unanswered. If leave management isn't yet configured, you'll see a prompt to set it up - follow the link to get started with Leave.
Active Workflows
If your business has active workflows running, this section gives you a summary of what's in progress. You'll see the total number of active workflows alongside a count of any that are overdue, highlighted in amber so they stand out.
The most urgent workflow instances are listed individually, showing the workflow name, the associated employee or reference, and how long until the deadline (or how far past it, if overdue). Selecting any instance takes you directly to it, and a View all link at the top leads to your full Workflows page.
Pending Sign-Offs
The pending sign-offs panel lists all compliance items that are still awaiting employee action. This includes policies that haven't been acknowledged, training modules that are incomplete, and risk assessments awaiting sign-off.
Each item shows the employee's name, the type of item, its current status, and when it was assigned. Overdue items are clearly flagged so you can prioritise follow-ups. If everything has been completed, you'll see a reassuring "All caught up!" message instead.
Note
Regularly reviewing pending sign-offs helps you catch items before they become overdue. A quick check at the start of each week can keep your compliance score on track.
Overdue and Upcoming Deadlines
Two side-by-side panels help you manage your compliance timeline:
Overdue Actions
This panel lists any items that have passed their due date and need immediate attention. Each entry shows the type of item (such as training or a risk assessment), its title, the associated employee, and when it was due. These are the items most likely to be dragging your compliance score down, so addressing them promptly makes a real difference.
Upcoming Deadlines
This panel shows items due within the next 30 days, giving you time to act before they become overdue. Planning ahead here is one of the most effective ways to maintain a strong compliance posture - rather than reacting to problems, you can stay a step ahead.
Together, these two panels form the backbone of proactive compliance management. Checking them regularly means fewer surprises and a steadier overall score.
Compliance Trend and Sector Benchmark
Two charts at the bottom of the Dashboard provide longer-term perspective on your compliance performance.
Compliance Trend
The compliance trend chart shows how your overall score has moved over the last 90 days. This is invaluable for spotting patterns - whether your score is steadily improving, has plateaued, or has dipped following a particular event. If you've recently adopted new policies or rolled out training, you'll see the impact reflected here over time.
Sector Benchmark
The sector benchmark compares your business's compliance score against the average for other businesses in your sector. It also shows your percentile ranking, so you can see where you sit relative to peers. For example, being in the 75th percentile means your business is performing better than 75% of similar organisations.
This comparison provides useful context. A score of 72% might feel modest on its own, but if the sector average is 65%, you're actually ahead of the curve. Equally, if you're below average, it highlights an opportunity to close the gap.
Note
Sector benchmarks become available once enough businesses in your sector have recorded compliance scores. If you don't see benchmark data yet, it will appear as more data is collected.
Quick Actions
At the bottom of the Dashboard, four quick action buttons give you fast access to the most common tasks:
- Add Employee - jump straight to adding a new team member to your business
- Adopt Policy - browse the policy library to adopt new policies
- Create Assessment - start building a new risk assessment
- Assign Training - create a new training checklist for your employees
These shortcuts save you navigating through menus for everyday actions. As your business grows, you'll likely find yourself using them regularly to keep compliance requirements up to date with your changing team.
